Post Type: Temporary Panel.
Location: Teagasc, Ballyhaise Agricultural College, Co. Cavan.
Reporting To: College Principal.
Basic Function: To operate as part of a team in the development, delivery and assessment of agricultural education and training to a wide range of courses/programmes within Ballyhaise Agricultural College. The person appointed to this post will be assigned to the teaching staff of the College.
Background: Ballyhaise Agricultural College is based in Co. Cavan. The College offers QQI accredited Level 5 and 6 courses in Agriculture and Forestry both full time and part time. Degree courses in Agriculture are conducted at Ballyhaise in collaboration with Dundalk Institute of Technology. All courses require extensive technical and practical training to be provided for students.

- Deliver education and training programmes at Ballyhaise Agricultural College, including full-time, part time courses.
- Prepare and deliver high-quality classes, lectures and practicals across a range of agricultural subject areas.
- Coordinate and assess assigned modules or courses within Teagasc’s agricultural education framework.
- Develop and review course content as part of the education team, in consultation with College management.
- Use a variety of teaching methodologies, including group facilitation, blended learning, and practical demonstration.
- Promote the College and its courses through participation in open days, school visits, careers events, and public engagement activities.
- Liaise effectively with students, parents, stakeholders, industry bodies and relevant agencies to support student learning and progression.
- Maintain accurate student records and results using Teagasc’s education management system (Quercus), and prepare files for QQI external verification.
- Keep subject knowledge up to date and engage in relevant role-related training and professional development.
- Support good governance and effective administration by complying with College and Teagasc procedures and policies.
- Be available to work flexible hours, including evenings or occasional weekends, where required.
- To assist Teagasc in meeting the commitments of the Quality Customer Service charter and action plan.
- To actively participate in the annual business planning and Performance Management Development System (PMDS) processes.
- Take responsibility for own professional development.
- Fully co-operate with the provisions made for ensuring the health, safety and welfare of themselves, fellow staff and non-Teagasc staff and co-operate with management in enabling Teagasc to comply with legal obligations. This includes full compliance with the responsibilities outlined in the Safety Statement.
